The Atalaia Agricultural Museum and the Tide Mill, in the municipality of Montijo, were the setting for an integration initiative promoted by the Municipal Council, through its Local Centre for Support to Migrant Integration (CLAIM). The visit, held on September 30th, was attended by 35 international protection applicants and was organized in partnership with the Portuguese Council for Refugees (CPR).
The participants, from countries such as Uzbekistan, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, Rwanda, Gambia, Congo, and Mozambique, had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Portugal and explore the rich historical and sociocultural heritage of the municipality.
This activity allowed visitors to discover traditions, activities, and experiences that shape the local identity, providing valuable moments of learning, socialising, and sharing among participants and the community.
The initiative is part of the municipal policy for the reception and integration of migrant citizens, aiming to bring participants closer to the community and facilitate their integration into Portuguese society through direct contact with the territory's history and culture.
