The ULS Almada-Seixal (ULSAS) marked World Occupational Therapy Day, celebrated on October 27th, with activities at Hospital Garcia de Orta (HGO) to highlight the importance of participation in meaningful activities.

Under the motto Participation Matters, launched by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), the ULSAS Occupational Therapy team celebrated the event. The aim was to emphasize the contribution of Occupational Therapy in promoting autonomy, functionality, well-being, inclusion, and quality of life throughout life.
The initiative sought to raise visibility for Occupational Therapy and raise awareness of its diverse intervention areas, including Physical Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Adult Mental Health. Informative and interactive leaflets were distributed in the HGO cafeteria, inviting professionals to reflect on their valued activities and to meet the team.
A collective panel, titled 'For me, participation is…', allowed participants to share words and brief messages about the meaning of participation in their lives, promoting reflection on meaningful occupations. The Occupational Balance Wheel complemented the activities, encouraging professionals to reflect on their time distribution between self-care, productivity, and leisure, aiming for balance and health promotion.
The central message reinforces that participating in activities that give meaning to life is essential for everyone's health and well-being.
