On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, CIMAL hosted the weekly meeting of the Alentejo Litoral Sub-regional Operational Coordination Centre (CCOS). The meeting was led by the Sub-regional Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection of Alentejo Litoral, Tiago Bugio, and included the participation, both in person and online, of the command of the Fire Brigades of the sub-region, heads of Municipal Civil Protection Services, and representatives from the Institute of Social Security and ICNF.
The meeting focused on an operational technical briefing regarding the various incidents recorded in the previous week and the accumulated data for the year 2026. CIMAL's participation facilitated an approach between the parties and provided insight into the scale of incidents, as well as available resources, constraints, and needs of civil protection agents, with a particular focus on fire brigades.
The need to establish a closer and more coordinated relationship between sector agents and CIMAL was recognized, aiming for greater equity and territorial cohesion in the sub-region. The Executive First Secretary of CIMAL, Rui Ruas, expressed full availability for the intermunicipal community to be an active part of this approach, and is currently in the process of reinforcing its staff for this functional area.
This convergence of wills aims to strengthen the sub-regional civil protection structure of Alentejo Litoral.
