The Vila do Conde Municipal Chamber marks, next Monday, October 5th, the 116th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic with an evocative program.

The program includes moments of homage and a solemn session dedicated to the republican memory of the municipality.
The celebrations begin at 09:30 AM at the Monte do Mosteiro Cemetery with the laying of a wreath in homage to all deceased Republicans.
At 10:30 AM, in Vasco da Gama Square, there will be a Guard of Honor by the Active Body of the Vila do Conde Firefighters, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem, performed by Mafalda Martins.
The solemn session will take place in the Noble Hall of the Paços do Concelho. It will begin with the reading of an excerpt from "A Melhor Amiga da Menina República", by Isabel Zambujal and Bernardo P. Carvalho, published by the Assembly of the Republic. The reading will be performed by students from the 8th and 9th grades of the Theater Course at the Conservatório de Música, Teatro e Dança de Vila do Conde: Ana Carolina Catarino, Diana Veloso, Maria Machado, and Rafael Santos.
This will be followed by an evocation of Dr. Manoel Cunha Reis, the first Mayor of Vila do Conde elected under the republican regime, by Romeu Cunha Reis.
