The Valongo Municipal Police marked a significant moment in its consolidation process with an insignia ceremony for the 18 municipal officers currently part of the structure. Established in January 2025, the Valongo Municipal Police's primary mission is to oversee compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to municipal attributions and competencies.
After several months of training, the 18 officers successfully completed their respective internship periods, now qualified to serve as Municipal Officers of the 2nd Class, the entry-level category in the Municipal Police career.
The insignia ceremony symbolizes the recognition of the new officers' journey and the commencement of a new phase in their service to the Municipality and its population.
Joining these 18 officers is a Coordinating Graduate, recruited through an internal general access competition, who began duties in March 2025 and brings over 25 years of experience in Municipal Police roles, contributing expertise to strengthen the structure.
With the completion of the new officers' training and internship and the reinforcement of the coordination team, the Valongo Municipal Police continues its implementation and affirmation process, enhancing the Municipality's capacity for oversight and closer community engagement.
