The Municipality of Trofa participated, between October 19 and 23, 2026, in training in Barcelona as part of the European project “POWER-UP!”. The initiative brought together Portuguese and Catalan professionals to deepen knowledge and develop tools to support local youth policies.

Coordinated by the Metropolitan Area of Porto (AMP), in partnership with the Diputació de Barcelona, and funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program, the POWER-UP! project focuses on strengthening skills and promoting cooperation between territories in the area of youth policies.
During the training, participants explored methodologies for diagnosing youth needs, identifying partners, defining objectives, applying the theory of change, and impact assessment. Mixed group work analyzed ways to transform information about youth reality into more adequate and participatory local responses.
Topics such as youth emancipation, well-being, civic participation, inclusion, and equal opportunities were among the main ones addressed. The program also included contact with local youth practices, promoting the sharing of experiences on different models of services and projects aimed at the young population.
Participation in the 44th Local Youth Policies Day – AProP reinforced the importance of inter-municipal cooperation in responding to the challenges associated with youth autonomy.
For the Municipality of Trofa, this mobility represented an opportunity to acquire new tools and learn about innovative approaches, strengthening the capacity for diagnosis, planning, and evaluation of municipal youth policies. The learnings will contribute to more strategic and participatory local policies, focused on the needs and aspirations of young people, aiming to expand opportunities and promote youth autonomy.
