Philosophy Professor Manuel Curado is the guest for the October edition of the Literary Coffee, an event taking place this Friday, October 2nd, at 9:30 PM, at the Paredes Municipal Library.
At the event, the guest will present the work “Vestido cor do Pecado”, by Maria Antónia Jardim. This novel celebrates the 125th anniversary of the birth of José Régio and is inspired by his Vestido Cor de Fogo.
The synopsis of the work describes it as a celebration of life, dreams, and transgression as salvation, promoting the coexistence of opposites in a wonderful harmony with Life itself and the Human Person, as taught by F. Pessoa.
Manuel Curado is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Minho, specializing in Ancient Philosophy and Philosophy in Portugal. He holds several academic titles, including National Defence Auditor and a High Management Course for Public Administration. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Salamanca and a master's degree from the Nova University of Lisbon and a bachelor's degree from the Portuguese Catholic University.
With over 300 conferences delivered internationally, including in Moscow and Rio de Janeiro, and having been an Erasmus Professor in Padua, Curado has dedicated part of his work to the critical edition of Portuguese classics, such as works by Dr. Isaac Sequeira Samuda, D. Francisco Manuel de Melo, Teixeira de Queiroz, and João da Rocha.
Additionally, he has reissued works by Rear Admiral José Maria Dantas Pereira on pasigraphy and works by Edmundo Curvelo on philosophical psychology and logic. He is a member of several ethics committees and author of the book Saúde e Cyborgs: Cuidar na Era Biotecnológica.
He is a corresponding member of the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy, a member of the Platonic Academy of Brasília, an associate member of the Centre for Biomedical Law (University of Coimbra), the Centre for Global Studies of the Universidade Aberta, and an integrated member of the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society (University of Minho).
