The Municipality of Marco de Canaveses, in collaboration with the county's parish councils, has increased financial support for the maintenance and cleaning of public spaces, with a particular focus on Leisure Parks.
The parish of Alpendorada, Várzea e Torrão received an additional 30 thousand euros for the upkeep of its Leisure Park. Sande e São Lourenço will benefit from another 50 thousand euros for the maintenance of the Montedeiras Picnic Park. The parish of Soalhães will see an increase of 6 thousand euros for the Eiró Multipurpose Park, and Sobretâmega will receive an additional 40 thousand euros for the Tâmega River Park.
Through this delegation of responsibilities, local authorities will be tasked with ensuring essential services such as watering, pruning, and cleaning of pedestrian circuits, guaranteeing that these spaces are presented in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition for users.
José Manuel Carvalho, councilor responsible for the Environment department of the Municipal Chamber, highlighted the importance of these green spaces. "Green spaces are always a concern for the executive and the parishes that have the infrastructure, so, together, we understood that each municipality had its needs and we considered that management should pass to their responsibility, acting in the way that best suits their reality. In this agreement, we are reinforcing the funds for maintenance and we are certain that the upkeep and cleaning of the spaces will be done carefully and in a way that makes each of us proud," he stated.
