The Municipality of Amarante is marking the 139th anniversary of the birth of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso with the event "Amadeo 24", taking place on November 13 and 14 at the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum of Modern Art (MAMASC).

The program kicks off on November 13, at 9:00 PM, with Visit’Ação – Amadeo 24, a performative experience exploring the artist's life and work, including musical moments, social gathering, dinner, and an overnight stay at the Museum. This proposal challenges participants to experience the museum space differently, fostering discovery and closeness to Amadeo's universe.
On November 14, at 10:00 AM, the multimedia room of the MAMASC will screen the film Amadeo, by Vicente Alves do Ó, offering an opportunity to better understand the painter's journey and artistic dimension.
In the afternoon, starting at 2:30 PM, Praça da República will host the participatory activity “Mil Cores para Amadeo” (A Thousand Colors for Amadeo), open to the entire community. The initiative encourages participants to unleash their creativity and contribute to building a collective art installation inspired by the artist's work and chromatic universe.
Participation in “Amadeo 24” is free. However, the Visit’Ação and the film screening require prior registration at forms.cm-amarante.pt, with limited capacity of 30 participants for Visit’Ação and 50 for the cinema session. The activity “Mil Cores para Amadeo” is free to join and does not require registration.
Through “Amadeo 24”, the Municipality of Amarante reinforces its commitment to valuing and promoting the artistic and cultural heritage of the municipality, fostering the connection between the community, contemporary creation, and the legacy of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.
