The CIMAA Intermunicipal Council met today, October 8th, at the Auditorium of the Nisa Municipal Library. The pilot project CICLAA, a Shared Electric Bicycle System for Alto Alentejo, was approved and is already available in 9 out of the region's 15 municipalities, promoting sustainable mobility. Operating hours (06:30/22:00), which may vary between summer and winter, were defined, and a €20 deposit was set to deter misuse of the equipment, refundable upon its return in good condition.
Regarding the Crato Multiple-Purpose Hydraulic Development Project – Pisão Dam, the Intermunicipal Council unanimously approved the Technical Note for the Relocation of Pisão Village. This document details the relocation possibilities for the village's population.
CIMAA presented the initiative Alto Alentejo 2040 – Together for the Future, a cycle of reflection on the challenges and strategic priorities for the region's development. The first session will take place on October 23rd at the Ponte de Sor Aerodrome, focusing on "PEOPLE" (demographics, economy, innovation). Subsequent sessions will be held in Elvas on "TERRITORY" and in Portalegre on "FUTURE".
The pilot villages for the Sénior+ project were also approved: Comenda (Gavião) and Santana (Nisa). This project aims to promote active aging and innovative assisted care. The selection was based on criteria such as aging and longevity rates, according to 2025 data from PORDATA.
A proposal was also presented to the Ministry of Agriculture and Sea to integrate Alto Alentejo into a pilot project for controlling the wild boar population. The project, which will cover 60 municipalities, includes financial incentives linked to an increase in the number of animals culled, with Castelo de Vide, Crato, Marvão, and Portalegre already included.
