Nurse Noélia Pita, from the São Vicente Health Center in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, has been nominated for the first edition of the Health Empathy Awards. This initiative, promoted by the Princípio Ativo movement, seeks to distinguish professionals, caregivers, and projects that promote more human and person-centered practices in the healthcare sector in Portugal.
Upon learning of the nomination, the professional from the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SESARAM, EPERAM) highlighted the special significance of this recognition from patients. Pita stated it is "an honor and a privilege," and an incentive to continue caring with dedication and closeness, adding that "this nomination further elevates my sense of responsibility and commitment."
The Nursing Directorate also acknowledged the nomination, praising Noélia Pita's ability to care with empathy, humanization, presence, and respect for the individual, considering her an example to her peers and the institution.
The award ceremony for the Health Empathy Awards 2026 is scheduled for October 17th, at the headquarters of ANJE - Associação Nacional de Jovens Empresários, in Porto. The event will celebrate the individuals, teams, and projects that make empathy an essential pillar of healthcare.
