The official presentation of the race took place this afternoon in the atrium of the Funchal Municipal Council, attended by the Director-General of Diário de Notícias, Ricardo Miguel Oliveira, and the Councillor for Sport, Helena Leal. The councillor highlighted the event as an integral part of the Region's sports agenda and a factor in establishing Funchal as an active city and "sports-friendly", recalling Funchal's distinction as "Sports Destination" of 2026.
Helena Leal also emphasized that the race contributes to the city's international promotion and projection, boosting the local economy and bringing participants closer to nature, while raising awareness about its preservation. She reiterated the Municipality's commitment to continue supporting sports, both competitive and recreational, as a promoter of public health and well-being.
The trail running event includes several races on Saturday: the 60 km race starting at Largo da Restauração at 05:30; the 45 km race from Estádio da Madeira at 07:00; the 30 km race beginning at the Funchal Ecological Park at 08:30; and the 15 km race, which starts at Pico dos Barcelos, in Santo António, at 10:15.
