The Lisbon Firefighter Regiment School hosted the conclusion of the first phase of the Initial Training for Entry into the Firefighter Career this week. The course brought together 42 recruits from various parts of the country, including 16 from Funchal.
After six months of intensive training, the recruits concluded this stage with a closing ceremony that included a public demonstration of their acquired technical skills. The presentation covered areas such as external double establishment, victim rescue and recovery techniques, individual and team climbing, extrication, pre-hospital emergency care, response to hazardous materials incidents, and drill procedures.
The event was attended by Diogo Gomes Barreto, councilor of the Funchal Municipal Council, who witnessed the completion of this first phase by the 16 Funchal recruits.
With this phase completed, the new firefighters will now begin the second stage of their training: six months of on-the-job training. They will be integrated into the Funchal Firefighter Company, where they will apply the knowledge and skills acquired in Lisbon.
