The ULS Amadora/Sintra commemorates World Palliative Care Day, celebrated on October 10th, with an awareness program running until October 14th, involving palliative care teams in Sintra and Amadora.

The day, which invites reflection on the importance of caring with closeness, dignity, and humanity, accompanies the person and their family throughout the illness process. The ULS Amadora/Sintra joins this initiative through an awareness and sharing program.
At the Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca (HFF), activities took place between October 6th and 9th, with the participation of various teams, including the In-Hospital Support Team for Palliative Care (EIHSCP), the Inpatient Team of the Acute Palliative Care Unit, the In-Hospital Support Team for Pediatric Palliative Care (EIHSCP-P), the Community Support Team for Palliative Care Sintra Ocidental (ECSCP Sintra Ocidental), and the Community Support Team for Palliative Care of Amadora (ECSCP PalCo). These teams promoted information and clarification on Palliative Care.
Today, October 10th, the ECSCP Sintra Ocidental is organizing the initiative “Conversas no Parque: Feira dos Cuidados Paliativos” (Conversations in the Park: Palliative Care Fair) at the Parque Linear D. Domingos Jardo, in Cacém. The event includes awareness moments on myths and truths about Palliative Care, decision-making, pain, the person's needs, and family support.
The program concludes on October 14th, at the Parque Central da Amadora, with an awareness event promoted by ECSCP PalCo, dedicated to disseminating Palliative Care within the community.
The ULS Amadora/Sintra thanks all the involved professionals and highlights their daily dedication to knowledge, availability, and humanity in this crucial area of care provision. The work of Palliative Care teams is fundamental to ensuring greater comfort, dignity, quality of life, and support for individuals and their families, reinforcing a person-centered culture of care.
