The program, running throughout the 2026/2027 academic year, aims to provide participants with immersive exposure to the teaching and research conducted at Técnico. It will include reinforcement classes in Mathematics and Physical Chemistry, practical laboratory activities, and project development in various fields of engineering, science, and technology.
With a weekly commitment of nine hours, the initiative will allow young people to explore areas such as Programming and Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Biotechnology, Logistics, and Entrepreneurship. The goal is also for them to develop new skills and learn about different learning and working methodologies within higher education. The program extends until June 2027, with guidance from Técnico faculty and master's and doctoral students.
The first edition benefits from the support of the Municipality of Oeiras, as part of an established partnership. Young people attending or having completed the 12th grade at a school within the municipality and who are beneficiaries of the A or B tiers of School Social Action (ASE) may be eligible for this co-funding.
The total participation cost is 2560 euros per student. For beneficiaries in tier A, the Municipality will cover the full amount. In tier B, municipal co-funding covers 50% of the costs, with the remainder being the student's responsibility. This support is contingent upon admission to the program and validation of eligibility criteria.
Admitted candidates wishing to benefit from municipal co-funding must submit, by October 31st, proof of attendance or completion of the 12th grade at a school in the municipality of Oeiras, along with the declaration of their respective ASE tier.
The "Experimenta o Técnico" program offers 25 places, and applications are open until October 4th, 2026, via the online form. The selection process will conclude with the announcement of results on October 7th. Admitted candidates must complete their enrollment and registration between October 8th and 12th, prior to the program's official start.
