A research team from the Faculty of Human Motricity (FMH) at the University of Lisbon and CIPER has secured funding from the FCT for the DREAM project, aiming to optimize referrals for structured physical exercise programs in Primary Healthcare.

The project, with the acronym DREAM (Digital-Resource Ecosystem for Physical Activity Referral Schemes), aims to develop and implement a digital ecosystem to improve the prescription of structured physical exercise in Primary Healthcare. This initiative seeks to strengthen the link between physical activity and healthcare, highlighting the role of exercise physiologists in the prevention and management of chronic non-communicable diseases, in collaboration with the National Health Service (SNS).
Led by Professors João Magalhães and Analiza Silva, both from FMH, the project involves a multidisciplinary team of specialists in Information Technology, Health Economics, and Medicine. Its realization relies on a strategic partnership including the Directorate-General of Health, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, the Municipality of Oeiras, and the Portuguese Association of Exercise Physiologists.
This funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) underscores the importance of the research conducted at FMH and CIPER. It reinforces the commitment of these institutions to innovation and the promotion of physical activity, aiming to develop solutions that enhance the population's health and quality of life.
