EMEL began today, October 19, 2026, the construction of a new cycle lane at the Rotunda do Relógio, in Lisbon, between the parishes of Alvalade and Olivais.

The works, with an estimated duration of 45 days, aim to establish a connection between the existing cycle lanes on Avenida Cidade do Porto and Rua Quinta da Graça, improving circulation in the area. The new path will also integrate the cycle lane on Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa and facilitate the connection to Avenida do Brasil via the cycle-pedestrian bridge on Avenida Almirante Gago Coutinho.
This initiative is part of the international project "BICI – Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure", which promotes the development of cycle networks in cities worldwide.
EMEL appeals for the understanding of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists during the construction period, requesting respect for temporary signage and the instructions of on-site authorities to minimize disruptions.
