The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is providing its academic community with the Google Workspace Education Plus edition, featuring new Artificial Intelligence, productivity, collaboration, teaching, and security functionalities, until the end of October 2026.

Until the end of October 2026, Students, Faculty, Researchers, and Technical and Administrative Staff at the University of Lisbon will have access to the Google Workspace Education Plus edition. This update is part of the digital services provided by ULisboa and allows the use of these tools in various contexts of teaching, learning, research, and work.
Among the main novelties is the integration of the Gemini AI assistant into the Google ecosystem applications, including Docs, Slides, Forms, and Vids. These features support content creation and revision, information analysis, presentation development, and audiovisual material production directly within the work context.
In the realm of collaboration, Google Meet will offer advanced videoconferencing features, including sessions for up to 1,000 participants, live broadcasts to large audiences, automatic recording and transcription, polls, Q&A, advanced moderation, and breakout rooms.
More than just expanding the available toolset, this evolution aims to provide the academic community with more opportunities to explore these technologies creatively, critically, responsibly, and securely. The update also includes improvements in academic integrity, audiovisual content creation, learning platform management, cybersecurity, and institutional information protection.
This update is part of a broader vision for the University's digital future. As ULisboa's Rector, Luís Ferreira, states: «Technology with the potential to democratize knowledge cannot itself become a new factor of inequality.»
This technological enhancement complements the digital services already provided by the University of Lisbon, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot Chat, and the IAedu.pt platform, allowing the academic community to critically, responsibly, and securely utilize various Artificial Intelligence tools.
