The election took place at the General Assembly held on October 19 and marks a new phase in the Association's leadership, consolidating it as an independent space for legal discussion on energy in Portugal.
The program for the next term is based on six strategic pillars: knowledge production and circulation (strengthening the Annual Congress, Energy Talks, open-access study publications, and creating an observatory for jurisprudence and regulatory decisions); development of the Association's communication and public presence; reinforcing ties with practice, regulatory bodies, and legislators; internationalization; promotion of young jurists and training (launching the APDEN Early Career hub); and defining a headquarters for the Association.
The elected social bodies also include Vanda Cascão and Ivone Rocha (Board members); Jorge Vasconcelos (President of the General Assembly Board), Filipe Matias Santos (Vice-President), and Maria Gorjão Henriques (Secretary); as well as Maria de Athayde Tavares (President of the Fiscal Council) and João Sequeira Sena (Vice-President).
In a context of growing relevance for the energy transition, APDEN aims to continue promoting legal debate and knowledge production on the challenges of the energy sector, covering areas such as contract law, regulation, consumer protection, and critical infrastructure governance.
The election of Professor Lucila de Almeida is also a significant recognition of the contribution of NOVA School of Law to the study, research, and development of Energy Law in Portugal and internationally.
