The Parish of Avenidas Novas, one of the most central in Lisbon, is hosting a traditional Fado Night as part of its anniversary celebrations. The event, which brings together renowned names in Portuguese song, will take place on September 25th, Friday, at 9:30 PM, at the Associação Grupo Excursionista “Os Económicos”, located on Rua da Beneficência, in the Santos (Rego) neighborhood.
On stage will be fadista Maria Mendes, known for her several albums and performances both nationally and internationally, with regular appearances on television and radio. She will be joined by fadista Tiago Correia, winner of RTP's “Nasci para o Fado” award and participant in Filipe La Féria's “Fado – História de um Povo”. Correia is also a radio host for Rádio Amália, headquartered in the parish.
The fadistas will be accompanied by the Guitar Ensemble of Master Luís Ribeiro, with presentation by Carlos Jorge Espanhol. The President of the Parish Council of Avenidas Novas, Daniel Gonçalves, has endorsed this initiative.
