On October 22nd, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH) hosts filmmaker Paula Gaitán for a discussion on the potential of sound as a territory of radicality and experimentation. The conversation, moderated by lecturer Pedro Florêncio, will take place in Auditorium B3 on the Avenida de Berna campus, starting at 12:00 PM.
The Doclisboa 2026 festival will also feature two cinematic works linked to NOVA FCSH. The film Esta Vida de Marinheiro, directed by Paulo Miguel Antunes, a student and employee of NOVA FCSH, will be screened in the Heart Beat section. The work combines archival footage, personal films, and concert recordings to portray João Aguardela, a unique figure in contemporary Portuguese music. Screenings are scheduled for October 17th, at 9:45 PM, at Cinema São Jorge, and for October 20th, at 9:45 PM, at Cinema Ideal.
The documentary Vestígios, by Luís Mendonça, a lecturer in the Communication Sciences Department at NOVA FCSH, explores the perspectives of seven experts from the Polícia Judiciária on photographs taken during their professional duties and how they intersect with a cinematic investigation into a forgotten noir film from old Hollywood. Scheduled in the Da Terra à Lua section, the film will be shown on October 16th, at 9:45 PM, at Cinema Ideal, and on October 19th, at 4:45 PM, at the Pequeno Auditório of Culturgest.
Doclisboa 2026 runs from October 15th to 25th, with screenings at venues including Cinema São Jorge, Cinema Ideal, Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema, Culturgest, and the Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian. The festival's complete program is available online.
