The event, held between October 22 and 24, focused on the theme «Therapeutic Alliance in Rehabilitation» and highlighted the pioneering role and excellence of CMRA, an institution of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML).
The first day was dedicated to specialized courses and workshops on neuromodulation, vertebro-medullary injuries, and pediatric neurological rehabilitation. The opening ceremony featured speeches by Jorge Jacinto (Conference President and CMRA Service Director), André Brandão de Almeida (SCML Administrator), and Pedro Morais Soares (Cascais Municipal Council member).
André Brandão de Almeida praised CMRA's 60 years of pioneering spirit, clinical quality, and innovation, emphasizing the importance of research, technology, and knowledge sharing, as well as the dedication of its teams. Discussions covered pain management strategies, therapeutic goals, non-motor deficits in neurological diseases, and the role of adapted sports.
The final day focused on balance and sensitivity disorders, and new technologies applied to rehabilitation, with a particular emphasis on virtual reality and artificial intelligence, presented by Spanish specialist Nestor Guerra.
The Dr. Santana Carlos Prize 2026 honored CMRA's mentor and recognized research projects. The main prize went to «AVCFlow – Digital Platform for Decision Support and Therapeutic Alliance in Stroke», developed by Hospital da Prelada. Honorable mentions were awarded to «Programa de Promoção do Desenvolvimento – Uma Aliança com as Famílias» (CMRA) and «Programa ComVida na reabilitação pós-AVC» (School of Health Sciences, Polytechnic University of Setúbal).
The conference concluded with a positive assessment, reaffirming SCML's commitment to research and innovation, and CMRA's legacy of excellence.
