The program, promoted by the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGARTES) in partnership with the Portuguese Observatory of Cultural Activities (OPAC), aims to reduce disparities in access to cultural creation, participation, and enjoyment in 78 eligible municipalities. Individual project grants range from 25,000 to 50,000 euros.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, highlighted Culture's role as a factor for cohesion and development. "By continuing this program, the Government renews its support for projects that enhance territories and involve communities, artists, artisans, and other stakeholders, strengthening local cultural dynamics," she stated.
The municipalities covered were identified by OPAC based on the update of the Artistic and Cultural Atlas of Portugal. Supported projects will be developed between 2027 and 2028, encompassing areas such as visual arts, performing arts, street arts, traditional arts and crafts, and digital arts.
In its first edition, the program supported 34 projects in 30 municipalities, with a total investment of 1 million euros. Those interested in participating in the current edition can submit their applications until November 6.
