Five students from NOVA University of Lisbon participated in the international forum A World for Travel, held in Paris on October 29th and 30th, to debate the future of tourism.

Filipa Carreiro, David Fernandes, Ludovina Fonseca, and Gonçalo Teixeira from the Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril (NOVA ESHTE), along with John Ajike Eke from the Faculdade de Economia | NOVA SBE, were selected to present their ideas on the challenges and opportunities that will shape the evolution of the tourism sector.
Their participation in the event stemmed from a challenge launched by NOVA to its students, inviting them to present proposals for the future of tourism through a pitch. The best ideas were chosen to represent the vision of new generations at a meeting that brought together industry leaders, public entities, companies, tourist destinations, and international organizations.
On October 30th, the students took part in the 'The Next Generation' session, dedicated to the contribution of future professionals to the transformation of tourism. The panel also included Ana Mendes Godinho, executive director of NOVA Tourism and Hospitality and former Secretary of State for Tourism, as well as students from international institutions.
The discussion focused on the changes redefining the sector, from the impact of technology and artificial intelligence to sustainability demands and new traveler expectations. Ana Mendes Godinho also joined the panel 'The Future Traveler: What Destinations Need to Rethink Today,' which addressed the evolution of traveler behaviors and how destinations, companies, and organizations can adapt their strategies to a rapidly changing reality.
The students' participation reflected NOVA's commitment to involving new generations in the reflection on the future of tourism, valuing innovation and technology in building more sustainable and people-centered tourism experiences. Beyond presenting their ideas to an international audience, the students had the opportunity to connect with experts and business leaders, broadening their perspective on global tourism challenges and opportunities.
