The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the National Republican Guard (GNR), and the Public Security Police (PSP) presented the results of the tenth campaign of the 2026 National Enforcement Plan (PNF). The initiative combined ANSR's in-person awareness actions with GNR and PSP enforcement operations.
During the campaign week, 5,404,840 vehicles were monitored by radar, leading to 12,994 speeding infractions. These actions covered the Mainland and the Autonomous Regions.
Additionally, awareness and enforcement actions were carried out in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, near the Carcavelos toll booths on the A5 highway, and at the northern access to the 25 de Abril Bridge. These events were attended by the Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Rui Rocha, the President of ANSR, Pedro Clemente, the GNR Operational Commander's Deputy, Major General Joselino Gouveia Seabra Ferreira, and the PSP Operations Department Director, Superintendent Manuel Gonçalves.
Between October 13 and 19, 2026, a total of 2,767 accidents were recorded nationwide, resulting in 13 fatalities, fifty serious injuries, and 823 minor injuries. Compared to the same period in 2025, there were 85 fewer accidents but eight more fatalities.
The campaign also included digital communication efforts, highlighting the relationship between speed and stopping distance, and the importance of adjusting speed to road conditions such as rain, reduced visibility, or heavy traffic.
The 2026 PNF's final campaign, dedicated to alcohol, is scheduled to take place from November 3 to 9.
