The Cardiology Department of ULS Amadora/Sintra held its 1st Nursing Seminar on October 22nd, at the Fernando Fonseca Hospital Auditorium, focusing on acute care to community rehabilitation strategies for cardiac patients.

The seminar, titled “Nursing Strategies from Acute Care to Community Rehabilitation”, aimed to promote reflection and knowledge sharing on Nursing interventions throughout the care pathway of individuals with heart disease at ULS Amadora/Sintra.
The program featured three thematic panels: “Time is Muscle – The Importance of Caring for Critically Ill Cardiac Patients: Multiple Approaches”, “Stabilization and Transition to Self-Care”, and “Returning Home and Community Life”. Nurses from other institutions shared projects and experiences, complemented by free communications and a poster presentation.
Projects under development at the Cardiology Department and ULS Amadora/Sintra were presented, adapted to the local reality, considering available resources and specific population needs, such as linguistic difficulties, housing conditions, economic shortages, and health literacy deficits.
Among the conclusions, the need to build bridges between the hospital and Primary Healthcare was highlighted to ensure continuity of care. A commitment was made to promote changes within ULS Amadora/Sintra, fostering a cohesive and motivated team, and to set new challenges for 2027, aiming for efficient and practical Cardiology care.
