The Municipality of Peniche has received a forestry tractor and two implements, equipment provided by the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), aimed at strengthening intervention capacity in fuel management and rural fire prevention.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Forests, Rui Ladeira, and the Regional Director for Nature Conservation and Forests of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo of the ICNF, Carlos Albuquerque. This reinforcement of municipal resources will increase the capacity to intervene in land clearing and the maintenance of fuel management strips, contributing to the prevention of rural fires and the protection of populations, property, and the natural heritage of the municipality.
The equipment includes a tractor accompanied by a hammer flail mower and a chain brush cutter, suitable for various vegetation control needs.
“
"We will continue to strengthen prevention work, a strategic area for the protection of people and the territory. This equipment allows us to intervene with greater capacity and effectiveness, saving many hours of manual labor and enabling us to do more in less time."
“
"The coordination with the ICNF and different governmental structures is essential for us to identify and seize opportunities that translate into more resources and better responses for our municipality."
With this application, the Municipality of Peniche strengthens its operational capacity on the ground and continues its prevention efforts, focusing on more effective and regular intervention in vegetation management and territorial safety.
