The Municipality of Seia and the Institute of Social Security, I. P. formalized today a protocol to implement the Volunteer Pool, a pilot project aimed at supporting informal caregivers.

The initiative aims to provide those who care for dependent individuals with time to rest and attend to other personal needs. Directed at caregivers with recognized Informal Caregiver Status, this service will allow for short temporary absences, up to three consecutive hours, with care continuity ensured by previously selected and trained volunteers.
The Municipality of Seia will be responsible for the management and operation of the Volunteer Pool, including opening applications, selecting volunteers, and establishing the pool. The ISS, I. P. will be responsible for identifying informal caregivers and care recipients who meet the conditions to benefit from the measure, as well as for monitoring its execution.
The application process to join the pool will be announced shortly. The Municipality appeals for the participation of individuals willing to undertake this commitment of solidarity, in order to gather the necessary volunteers to launch the service.
The project's implementation will be developed in coordination with reference professionals from Social Security and Health, as well as with volunteers. This joint effort will seek to ensure adequate support for identified needs, respecting the dignity, safety, and well-being of both care recipients and volunteers.
