The Pinhel Municipal Chamber, in an executive meeting on October 1, announced the start of an intervention on Rua da República, scheduled to begin next Tuesday, October 6. The intervention, managed by the Municipality, aims to improve the circulation of people and vehicles and make the street more pleasant. Bollards parallel to the sidewalks will be removed, planters and benches will be installed, and the lighting system will be altered.
The Mayor informed that the intervention will not involve closing vehicular traffic nor affect pedestrian circulation, although occasional disruptions may occur, which will be duly signposted on site.
Among the agenda items, the approval of the request for administrative and financial support for the acquisition of a forest fire fighting vehicle by the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Pinhel was highlighted. The Municipality decided to financially support the Association, covering the 25% not included in the contract with the CCDRC, as part of the cooperation between Portugal and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Technical and administrative support requests from the Parish Councils of Vascoveiro and Souropires for local projects were also approved, along with measurement certificates for ongoing works in the city. Additionally, participation rules for the event “Beira Interior – Vinhos & Sabores”, to be held at the Logistics Center of Pinhel on November 13, 14, and 15, were approved.
