The Municipality of Fornos de Algodres, in partnership with the Intermunicipal Community of Beiras and Serra da Estrela Region (CIMRBSE), has launched the MOBIFLEX.BSE Flexible Transport service, a mobility solution aimed at facilitating travel for residents from different localities in the municipality to the town of Fornos de Algodres.

The service operates via reduced-cost taxi rides, allowing residents to travel to the municipal seat to access shops, services, facilities, and other essential resources. This initiative contributes to promoting territorial cohesion and combating isolation, particularly for residents in more remote areas.
To use the service, interested individuals must register with the Fornos de Algodres Municipal Council and obtain the respective Citizen's Card. Travel bookings are made via the toll-free number 800 222 802 and must be done by 3:00 PM on the working day prior to the desired trip.
MOBIFLEX.BSE is organized into four circuits with specific routes and schedules:
• Circuit 1 – Wednesdays: Corujeira, Fuinhas, Sobral Pichorro, Mata, Muxagata, Figueiró da Granja, Fornos Gare, and Fornos de Algodres.
• Circuit 2 – Thursdays: Casal do Monte, Queiriz, Barreira, Aveleiras, Maceira, Vila Chã, Cortiçô, Algodres, and Fornos de Algodres.
• Circuit 3 – Tuesdays: Vila Ruiva, Cadoiço, Juncais, Vila Soeiro do Chão, Ponte de Juncais, Fornos Gare, and Fornos de Algodres.
• Circuit 4 – Wednesdays: Fonte Fria, Forcadas, Matança, Dólmen da Matança, Furtado, Rancozinho, Casal Vasco, Ramirão, Infias, and Fornos de Algodres.
Each circuit operates in two periods: morning (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and afternoon (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM). Transport only travels to localities with pre-booked trips. On Mondays of the Bi-weekly Market and Saturdays of the Small Market, all circuits are available to facilitate access to these important events for local commerce and community gathering.
Journeys have reduced fares, ranging from €2.00 to €6.70, depending on the route. There are also social tariffs applicable to pregnant women, individuals with a disability of 60% or more, blood donors, users in situations of economic hardship and their families, firefighters, military personnel, ex-military personnel, and the unemployed.
With the introduction of MOBIFLEX.BSE, the Municipality of Fornos de Algodres reinforces its commitment to more inclusive and accessible mobility, promotes equal opportunities in accessing services, encourages population autonomy, and brings the different localities closer to the municipal seat. This response aims to ensure that distance does not become an obstacle to participation in the social, economic, and community life of the municipality.
MOBIFLEX.BSE contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.
