Under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” the initiative offered innovative experiences that combined the municipality's tourist attractions with modern digital tools. The program took place at the three Municipal Tourism offices (Almeida, Castelo Mendo, and Vilar Formoso), the Memorial to Refugees and Consul Aristides de Sousa Mendes, and the Almeida Military History Museum.
At the Almeida Municipal Tourism office, visitors participated in the “Digital Mission,” exploring local curiosities through QR codes. The Castelo Mendo Municipal Tourism office offered a “Photo Challenge: In search of Mendo and Menda,” while the Vilar Formoso Municipal Tourism office explored redesigning tourism with Artificial Intelligence through the activity “Vilar Formoso True or False”.
The Vilar Formoso Fronteira da Paz – Memorial to Refugees and Consul Aristides de Sousa Mendes used Artificial Intelligence to explore the history of the space. The Almeida Military History Museum marked the date with the exhibition “Revive, Resist, Reinvent: A Museum that Remains,” which included iconography and old photographs of the Casemates, accompanied by an interactive activity to gather visitor contributions.
The museum recorded very positive participation and excellent public attendance, receiving 6 visitor groups over the two days. Tourists of various ages, many with mobile devices, explored the territory and actively participated in the activities, showing enthusiasm for innovation in the tourism sector.
