The Casa-Museu João de Deus, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, marks its 29th anniversary with a special program of activities on October 24th and 25th. The cultural space, dedicated to the life and work of João de Deus, poet and pedagogue, invites the public to celebrate with initiatives that promote art and knowledge.
The commemorations begin on October 24th, at 3:30 PM, with the storytelling session «Uma Casa Cheia de Contos», led by Bruno Batista, requiring prior registration. This will be followed, at 7:00 PM, in the Multipurpose Room, by the chamber music concert «Paisagens de Sonho», performed by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul.
On October 25th, at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, visitors are invited to participate in «O que a Casa-Museu Esconde?» (What does the House-Museum Hide?), a guided tour designed to uncover stories and lesser-known details of the museum's heritage. The commemorative program culminates at 4:00 PM with the inauguration of the photo-literary exhibition «Molduras do Invisível», featuring photographs by Luís Medeira and texts by Nero.
The exhibition, which explores the relationship between image and word and invites contemplation of the historical and cultural heritage of the municipality of Silves from a new perspective, will be on display until December 31, 2026, in the Multipurpose Room.
By celebrating another anniversary, the Casa-Museu João de Deus reaffirms its commitment to cultural dynamism and heritage valorization, fostering encounters between literature, music, imagery, and the community.
The full program also includes the guided tour at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on the 25th. For more information and registration for the storytelling session, interested parties should contact the Casa-Museu João de Deus via email at casamuseu.joaodeus@cm-silves.pt or by phone at 282 440 892.
