At 25 years old, David Mendonça, vocalist of the band “Os Vizinhos”, is one of the most listened-to voices in Portugal. His passion for music began early, at six years old, with the accordion, and his training was supported by various teachers and musicians.
After secondary education, he enrolled at the Escola dos Artistas de Minerva in Loulé and participated in various musical projects, including the Rancho Típico Sambrasense, the group JASMIM, and a jazz duo with Paul Carter. He pursued academic music studies in Évora, where he joined the Grupo Académico Seistetos, a precursor to “Os Vizinhos”.
In 2021, he collaborated on the project «Sons de São Brás», showing an interest in preserving musical heritage. The band “Os Vizinhos” released their first album in April 2025 at the São Brás Cineteatro Jaime Pinto, achieving national popularity with songs like “Pôr do Sol”, which reached quadruple platinum in November 2025.
The recognition from the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel celebrates the career of David Mendonça, who in 2018 received the Prémio Juventude «Música Revelação». The distinction was presented at the Espaço Memória da Câmara Municipal, highlighting him as an example for new generations.
The band “Os Vizinhos” is preparing their second album and will perform at the Teatro das Figuras on November 5th, joining the solidarity concert «Prometo Viver».
