The CCDR Algarve is promoting, on October 22nd, the public session «Matéria Adentro: New paths for the territory's materials». The event will focus on presenting new products developed from endogenous Algarve materials and discussing their applications in architecture, design, and sustainable construction.
The session will showcase the results of creative residencies involving production units, designers, architects, and researchers in exploring new uses for four territorial materials: cane, oyster shell, clay (roof tiles), and rammed earth.
The program includes the presentation of projects and their respective outcomes, an exhibition of the developed pieces, and a round table dedicated to the necessary conditions for valuing these materials and integrating the found solutions into the market. The discussion will cover the commercial viability of products, public procurement, waste valorization as raw material, and opportunities in sustainable architecture.
The event will begin with an institutional opening at 2:30 PM, followed by the presentation of projects and results at 3:00 PM. After an interactive break and product showcase at 4:15 PM, the round table «Practical Paths for the Territory's Materials» will take place at 5:00 PM, with closing scheduled for 5:45 PM.
This initiative is part of the «Program for the Development of New Products based on Endogenous Materials Inspired by the Mediterranean Diet», promoted by the Development and Regional Planning Unit of the CCDR Algarve, within the scope of INOVA ALGARVE 3.0 — Promotion of Qualification and Innovation in the Algarve Region, managed by Proactivetur and co-financed by the Algarve 2030 Regional Program.
Participation is free, subject to a maximum capacity of 90 places. Registrations must be made by October 19th, via the online registration form.
