The competition, which demanded high technical rigor and competitiveness, saw the Portuguese delegation excel. In the individual event, athlete Ricardo Jesus (Portugal – Team A) secured the gold medal with 8 points, achieved through 179 catches across the three heats.
The individual podium was completed by Spanish athletes: José Manuel Rosales Villegas (Spain – Team C) took second place with 9 points and 190 catches, followed by Manuel Aroca Moreno (Spain – Team A) in third, with 12 points and also 190 catches.
In the team classification, Portugal – Team A claimed the world title with just 2 ranking points (1+1), accumulating a total of 6,202 points and 448 catches.
Spain – Team A secured the collective second place with 3 ranking points, 5,908 points, and 431 catches. Spain – Team C rounded out the podium in third position, with 7 ranking points, 4,934 points, and 360 catches.
Other Portuguese national teams were among the world's top 10. Portugal - Team C achieved 8th place with 4,417 points and 320 catches, while Portugal - Team B finished in 9th place, with 4,458 points and 326 catches.
The event was organized by FIPS-M and the Portuguese Federation of Offshore Sport Fishing (FPPDAM), with support from the Albufeira Municipal Council. The opening ceremony and closing dinner were attended by Vice-President Jorge Carmo and councilwoman Maria Cristina Corado, highlighting Albufeira's capacity to host major international sporting events.
