The Lynx Race event, held in Albufeira, stood out for its spirit of sharing and collaboration among participants. Each pair tackled 7km of running, 20 obstacles, and 2 x 1,000m ergometers, requiring a combination of strength, endurance, and mutual support to find a common rhythm.
The event featured a wide diversity of athletes, from a 9-year-old child competing with their father to the oldest participant, aged 59. Elite athletes and amateurs shared the course, cheered on by families, residents, and tourists who followed the race.
A total of 179 pairs registered: 82 male, 77 mixed, and 30 female. Although 70% of the athletes were from the Algarve, the competition attracted participants from other regions of the country, including teams from Beja, Lisbon, Mafra, Oeiras, Cascais, and Setúbal.
In the overall and male classifications, the team NOVA MORADA from Oeiras emerged victorious with a time of 43 minutes. The team OCR PORTUGAL LAB from Cascais took first place in the female pairs, while the mixed category was won by the team from club XTEAM in Lisbon.
Beyond the competition for the top spots, the Lynx Race valued each pair's experience, where trust and mutual encouragement were as crucial as physical preparation.
Councilwoman Maria Cristina Corado, present at the event, highlighted the capacity of sport to unite generations and pointed out the Pista de Corta-Mato das Açoteias as an "excellent space for sports practice in Albufeira". The competition was part of the Albufeira European City of Sport 2026 program, with the support of the Albufeira Municipal Council and the collaboration of local schools and the Agrupamento de Escutas 714 de Albufeira.
