For three days, horses will be the focus of an event offering the public exposure to various equestrian disciplines and expressions. Dressage, Working Equitation, and show jumping competitions will be joined by demonstrations, Cavalhadas (horse parades), and the Stables Parade. The program is further enhanced by an exhibition, crafts, and food stalls.
The venue opens on Friday, October ninth, at 5:00 PM, with the official inauguration at 6:00 PM. A highlight of the first night will be the 9:30 PM equestrian show, featuring the GNR Band and musical accompaniment by Gonçalo Rosa on Portuguese guitar and Melissa Simplício on vocals. The concert by Compis del Cante completes the musical program for the day.
The sporting component runs throughout the weekend, including the Southern Dressage Cup, with its final on Sunday, and the Enseñanza, Maneability, and Velocidad events of Working Equitation. Show jumping contests and the Obstacles/Power competition are also part of the competitive program.
The fair will also serve as a space for learning and knowledge sharing. Bruno Rodrigues Silva will lead two Dressage masterclasses on Friday and Sunday, while the Fernando de Oliveira Arena will present a demonstration with Bruno Cavalinhos. A workshop on the Portuguese Riding Costume will reinforce the event's connection to the cultural heritage associated with horses.
On Saturday, the Cavalhadas and the Stables Parade, scheduled for 9:30 PM with the participation of fado singer Sara Paixão, will be featured. The evening continues with a performance by DJ Alexandre Ramos. On Sunday, after the finals and award ceremony, the program concludes with a closing sunset event starting at 6:00 PM, featuring DJ Gonçalo Rosa.
Offering something for both equestrian enthusiasts and newcomers to the equestrian world, the second edition of the Southern Equestrian Fair combines competition, culture, and social gathering in a family-friendly environment. The event is supported by Marina de Albufeira and partnered with DeCasta.
