The Albufeira Sports Pavilion hosted an exciting basketball encounter, which culminated in FC Porto's victory in the 9th Super Cup of their history. The competition was attended by the vice-president of the Albufeira Municipal Chamber, Jorge Carmo, in a year when the municipality holds the title of European City of Sport.
Sporting CP started the match with greater dominance, ending the first period with a 26-22 lead. The Lions' team maintained their advantage and reached halftime with a 10-point difference, at 41-31.
In the second half, FC Porto increased their intensity and reduced the deficit. With a 20-11 run in the third period, the Dragons closed the gap to just one point, leaving the decision open for the final 10 minutes.
The comeback was completed in the decisive period, where the Porto team scored 29 points against Sporting CP's 24, thus securing the final victory of 80-76 and lifting the trophy in Albufeira.
Thomas Bropleh was elected the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match, with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Corey Allen-Williams and Gonçalo Delgado also contributed 11 points each to Porto's triumph. For Sporting CP, Gabriel Kalscheur stood out with 17 points, while Javier Davis recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds. Francisco Amarante finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists.
During the break between the third and fourth periods, an honorary member diploma from the Portuguese Basketball Federation was presented to Mário Saldanha, a key figure in the sport who lends his name to the men's Super Cup. The diploma was presented by the Federation's vice-president, Nuno Manaia.
In addition to Jorge Carmo, the national technical director, Paulo Neta, the president of the Algarve Basketball Association, Eduardo Cruz, and the former president of the Portuguese Basketball Federation, Manuel Fernandes, were also present at the ceremony.
