The presented work, titled “ULSAC Users' Perception on Antibiotic Use”, was developed in 2025 to understand users' knowledge, attitudes, and expectations about the use of these medications, a critical area for public health and the prevention of antimicrobial resistance.
The study was a collaboration between the teams of the Local Unit for Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Resistance (UL-PPCIRA) of Primary Healthcare and Hospital Care of ULSAC. Data collection took place on November 18, 2025, during European Antibiotic Awareness Day, through questionnaires administered to users in various units.
“"The project had a dual focus: strengthening coordination between different care levels and better understanding user perception regarding antibiotic use."
The results identified areas where health literacy needs to be reinforced, such as expectations about antibiotic prescription, use without a medical prescription, and management of leftover medications. This data will form the basis for future awareness and education strategies.
The presentation at IACS 2026 is seen as an opportunity to share knowledge and disseminate ULSAC's work, highlighting the importance of collaboration and the promotion of responsible antibiotic use.
