The Municipality of Góis marked World Heart Day on September 29th with an event in Alvares focused on cardiovascular health and the promotion of physical activity.

The activity, which was part of the European Week of Sport 2026 program and the #BeActive movement, began with an Awareness Session on Cardiovascular Health. This session was held in collaboration with the Community Care Unit (UCC) "Góis Vive" at the Casa de Cultura e Lazer da Comissão de Melhoramentos de Alvares, and addressed the importance of prevention and adopting healthy lifestyle habits.
Following this, the "Caminhada Coração Ativo" (Active Heart Walk) took place, gathering 50 participants. During the outdoor walk, participants formed a heart shape, symbolizing the importance of prevention and cardiovascular health care. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about adopting behaviors that contribute to a more active life and the prevention of risk factors associated with cardiovascular health.
The event combined information and community participation around a topic of relevance to public health, emphasizing prevention and the adoption of active lifestyles. The collaboration between the Municipality of Góis and the UCC "Góis Vive" allowed for the articulation of the awareness component with a practical activity, bringing the prevention message closer to the community.
