A Rugby Europe delegation assessed the infrastructure and organizational capacity of Coimbra and Lousã to host the 2027 and 2028 editions of the Development Super Week, a youth rugby event.

The visit aimed to review and evaluate the proposal presented by the CRRC and the Portuguese Rugby Federation. The delegation included directors Philippe Tuccelli and Sébastien Fayen. Also present were Francisco Martins and Mário Costa, representing the Portuguese Rugby Federation, and Paulo Picão Eusébio, president of CRRC, who leads the regional consortium responsible for the bid.
Each edition of the Development Super Week foresees 11 days of operation, with 24 matches and three games per team. The finals for the U18 and U20 categories are scheduled for the weekend, with higher spectator attendance expected. The bid anticipates the participation of 416 athletes and 64 technical team members, with an estimated television audience exceeding 200,000 viewers per edition.
Key elements of the bid include organizational and logistical capacity, coordination between the municipalities of Coimbra and Lousã, and the sports infrastructure network, such as the Estádio Municipal de Taveiro, the Estádio Universitário de Coimbra, and the Estádio José Redondo.
The proposal also includes medical support from the Unidade Local de Saúde de Coimbra (ULS Coimbra), Hospital da Luz, and CUF, as well as operational, logistical, and mobility support from both municipalities.
