The award, presented by the Res Publica Foundation, recognizes a work that "questions traditional models of migration management and proposes an approach centered on the ethics of care, human interdependence, and the construction of fairer migration policies", according to the foundation.
Paulo Antunes, a researcher at the PRAXIS/UBI center and an invited Assistant Professor at UBI, teaches Theories of Justice, Ethics, Politics, Political Communication, and Theory of Language. He is also part of the Portuguese-Language Association of Sport Philosophy (AFDLP).
This is not Antunes's first recognition this year, as he also received the UBI | CGD Young Researcher Award in the "Humanities" category.
The award ceremony for the Res Publica Award 2025, themed "Migrations: realities and myths, dynamics and policies", took place on October 19th at the Foundation's premises. The event was presided over by Edite Estrela, president of the Board of Founders of the Res Publica Foundation and head of the jury.
