The "Awards in Focus" section monthly gathers the results, distinctions, and achievements of individuals, institutions, associations, and collectives from Bragança who excel in various fields. In this edition, for September 2026, the Municipality of Bragança emphasizes achievements in sports and culture.
In sports, several athletes were honored. In Motorcycling, Tiago Rafael was crowned National Speed Champion - Sportbike and selected for trials at the Redbull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Granada. João Cancelinha became the National Supermoto Champion in the R12 category.
Tiago Rodrigues won the National Triathlon Championship (age group 20-24 years), while Tânia Gonçalves was the National Bodybuilding Champion and elected "IFBB Pro Figure Athlete". In Adapted Sports, Lúcia Pereira was the National Trail Adapted Champion and Rodrigo Granjo achieved 4th Place in the National Trail Championship ANDDI.
In the Culture area, Valdo Azevedo and Ana Afonso, guided by Professor Aušra Bernatavičiūtė, received distinctions. Valdo Azevedo received an Honorable Mention in Category F at the 19th Paços Premium-2026 International Music Competition, and Ana Afonso won 2nd Prize ex aequo in the Youth Category at the 9th Sardoal International Piano Competition.
The U15 team of the Arnaldo Pereira Futsal School received a Special Mention for winning the National U15 Futsal Cup, in addition to the titles of the District Championship and the District Cup of the Bragança Football Association.
A Special Mention was awarded to Afonso Ribeiro, an 11-year-old boy who builds replicas of Municipal events using Legos and reusable materials since he was 5 years old.
