The meeting's main objective was to thoroughly evaluate the execution of the current community support framework in the municipality and region, assessing the development status of ongoing investments and the execution rate of approved applications in various structuring areas. Alongside the assessment of completed projects, the meeting also served to prepare the strategy for attracting funding and define priorities for the next community framework.
Guidelines and priority interventions for Vizela were aligned, aiming to maximize the use of European resources in strengthening local infrastructure, economic development, environmental sustainability, and social cohesion. The strategy defined by the Municipal Executive is noteworthy, as Vizela has moved from being one of the municipalities with the lowest execution rate to one that best utilizes community funds, aiming for the council's growth and overcoming long-identified structural weaknesses.
The Mayor argued that funding for Municipalities should not be limited to the FEF, proposing a new criterion based on each municipality's execution rate. He also stressed the urgent need for intermunicipal policies, highlighting two crucial structuring projects for the region: the alteration of the railway line connecting Porto to Guimarães into a double track with a connection to Braga, and the reconversion of the VIM and its links to the other municipalities of CIM Ave.
Through this direct coordination with the executive leadership of CIM Ave, the Vizela Municipal Chamber reaffirms its commitment to maintaining proactive and rigorous management of community funds, ensuring new investments that promote sustainable growth and continuous improvement in the quality of life for all Vizela residents.
