The Vizela Municipal Council has begun installing 21 underground recycling points, an investment of €542,662.47, as part of a project to modernize urban waste management and promote environmental sustainability in the municipality.

In a clear commitment to ecological modernization, the Vizela Municipal Council has started the installation of the first equipment for the underground recycling points project throughout the municipality. This initiative represents a total investment of €542,662.47, including 21 underground recycling points, under the NORTE 2030 community program.
This intervention follows the ‘Vizela Mais Limpa’ (Cleaner Vizela) program, implemented in 2017, which had already modernized urban hygiene with an investment exceeding 2 million euros. The strategy included replacing traditional collection with a modern container system and awareness campaigns like ‘Comércio a Reciclar’ (Commerce Recycles).
The new underground recycling point system aims to optimize urban waste management, increasing selective deposit capacity for paper/cardboard, packaging, and glass. It also seeks to reduce visual and odor impacts in public areas, improving collection accessibility and efficiency.
With the commencement of equipment installation, the Council reinforces its commitment to environmental goals and citizens' quality of life, consolidating Vizela as a leading municipality in sustainability and urban space valorization.
