The Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso, in partnership with the Portuguese League Against Cancer, organized a walk that gathered approximately 320 people last Sunday, raising 2,887.50 euros.

Póvoa de Lanhoso turned pink last Sunday to mark the fight against breast cancer, in an initiative aligned with the international movement Pink October. The event, which began at Praça Eng.º Armando Rodrigues, included warm-up sessions and an easy-difficulty route, accessible to all participants.
The walk, with around 320 participants, aimed to raise community awareness about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of the disease. The organization, managed by the Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso in collaboration with the Portuguese League Against Cancer, successfully raised a total of 2,887.50 euros, which will be donated to the cause.
This year, the initiative featured a new 8 km route, which passed through Fontarcada. A performative moment at the Fonte do Vido, with an excerpt from Camilo Castelo Branco's work represented by characters of Camilo Castelo Branco and Maria da Fonte, marked the event.
The Monastery of Fontarcada served as the setting for the formation of a giant ribbon and the symbolic handover of the donation. The initiative was attended by the Mayor, Frederico Castro, and the Vice-Mayor, Fátima Moreira, who joined the walk and participated in the various scheduled activities.
