The Cradle of the Nation invites you to celebrate National Castles Day at the iconic Guimarães Castle. On October 7th, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, visitors can immerse themselves in a medieval atmosphere with a day full of history and fun for all ages.
The program includes Medieval Games with challenges inspired by the era, a Military Camp and Exhibition where you can see helmets, armor, chainmail, and shields up close. There will also be Archery demonstrations with a monitor's guidance, and Falconry shows featuring majestic birds of prey.
Medieval Music will provide the entertainment, transporting attendees to the heart of the Middle Ages. Visitors can also explore Medieval Crafts, such as pottery, writing, and weaving, and enjoy a Medieval Comedy show.
The event is free of charge, subject to space availability. It is organized by the Paço dos Duques de Bragança, Castelo de Guimarães, and Igreja de S. Miguel – Museus e Monumentos de Portugal. E.P.E., with support from the Associação de Amigos do Paço dos Duques de Bragança e do Castelo de Guimarães and collaboration from Décadas de Sonho, Eventos e Recriações Históricas.
