As part of the "Parish by Parish" proximity tour, the Mayor of Braga, João Rodrigues, conducted a working visit to the Union of Parishes of Este (São Pedro and São Mamede), accompanied by his municipal team and the local executive led by Sérgio Fernandes. The meeting served to align priorities and evaluate on-the-ground work during the first year of their mandate.
João Rodrigues highlighted the parish's strong urban growth potential, emphasizing that population expansion requires proportional reinforcement of infrastructure, green spaces, and public facilities. "The Municipal Master Plan and urban growth dynamics present us with immense challenges. Things must be done thoughtfully, in constant dialogue with the populations and the Parish Councils. It is fundamental to have frank and direct communication to quickly resolve whatever needs resolving for the well-being of all," stated the mayor.
In terms of mobility, the requalification of the Variante do Fojo (2nd phase) represents an investment exceeding 5.1 million euros. The investment plan also extends to 2027, with planned phases for the Variante do Fojo, repaving of the Variante do Alto da Vela (1.6 million euros), and interventions on local streets (210 thousand euros).
Regarding the School Park, the Municipality acknowledged the need to requalify EB1 of Este São Mamede and create a cover for the outdoor playground of EB1 of Este São Pedro. Other requests include reinforcing public lighting for the football field access and maintaining playgrounds and sports courts. The requalification of the Nascente do Rio Este, costing approximately 509 thousand euros, brings the total investment in the parish to nearly 5 million euros by 2027.
Sérgio Fernandes praised the effectiveness of the working model, while João Rodrigues reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining open communication with the Parish Councils to quickly resolve population issues and improve Braga.
