The Municipality of Fafe has once again been honored with the 'Living in Equality' Award, presented by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), solidifying its track record in equality policies.

The Municipality of Fafe has been distinguished, for the fourth consecutive time, with the 'Living in Equality' Award, presented by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG). This renewal of national recognition highlights the good practices developed in promoting gender equality, citizenship, and non-discrimination.
The award, covering the 2026–2027 biennium, was presented on October 26th, at a ceremony held at the Casa da Música in Porto. The initiative, in its 8th edition, honored a total of 57 Portuguese municipalities.
The award aims to recognize the work of municipalities in integrating principles of equality and non-discrimination into local public policies, both in the organization of municipal services and in initiatives aimed at the community.
For Fafe, this award underscores the continuity of a journey built over the years, with policies focused on promoting equal opportunities, inclusion, respect for diversity, and the defense of human rights.
Among the measures implemented by the municipality are the Municipal Plan for Equality and Non-Discrimination, awareness-raising actions within the school community, prevention and combating of domestic violence, and close collaboration with local institutions.
Following an Honorable Mention in 2016, Fafe won the 'Living in Equality' Award in 2020, 2022, 2024, and now in 2026, reinforcing its commitment and recognition in this area.
