The municipal investment resulted in the thorough renovation and adaptation and modernization works of the spaces where these fundamental educational facilities will now operate. The structuring role that School Libraries play in student development was recalled, serving as core centers for learning, innovation, and inclusion, fostering curiosity, developing digital and information literacies, and promoting critical thinking.
In an era strongly marked by immediate access to information and screen omnipresence, reading assumes an even more crucial relevance. Reading stimulates imagination, strengthens concentration, expands vocabulary, and develops empathy. The continuous commitment of the Municipality of Esposende to its youth translates into creating welcoming, stimulating, and equipped environments where reading habits can flourish from the early years of schooling.
This achievement was the result of a broad network of local cooperation. The Municipality expresses its special thanks to the Directorate of the Agrupamento de Escolas António Correia de Oliveira for the close coordination, leadership, and strategic vision demonstrated throughout the process. It also commends the dedicated and tireless work of the librarian teachers, whose commitment brings life and pedagogy to these spaces, as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff for their daily support of the students. A word of recognized gratitude is also extended to parents, guardians, and the Juntas de Freguesia, whose collaboration and proximity were decisive for the success of this community project.
With the handover of these two newly renovated school libraries, the Municipality of Esposende reaffirms its strategy of continuous investment in Education, ensuring the children of the municipality the best conditions to learn, discover, and cultivate the pleasure of reading.
